TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE 37401 5H 157B Lookout Place JUL 07 18im U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:

In the Matter of Docket No. 50-260 Tennessee Valley Authority BROMNS FERRY HUCLEAR PLANT (BFH) ELECTRICAL CABLE AMPACITY (TAC 62260)

This letter is in response to HRC's letter of May ll, 1989 which provided clarification on TVA's use of the Division of Operating, Reactors (DOR) guidelines.

This clarification was provided in response to TVA's letter of February 21, 1989. HRC provided clarification of item a. of the enclosure to this letter as follows: "the cable does not have to operate during the accident (includes post.-accident operating requirements) that creates the transients in excess of 205 F." This clarification expresses the orig, inal intent of the TVA position.

HRC also provided clarification on item b. of the enclosure and requested TVA to provide the temperatures, times, and locations in the reactor building during which ambient temperatures will exceed 205 F. BFH does not currently intend on qualifying any cables to the DOR guidelines which would be required to operate under the condition stated in criteria b, Therefore, there is no need for TVA to provide this information.
