GINNA WITHDRAWAL OF AMENDMENT REQUEST REGARDING RE(UIREMENTS FOR INCREASE OF flAXIMUtlREACTOR COOLANT IODINE ACTIVITY LIMIT (TAC NO. 49899)

By letter dated February 18, 1983, and supplemented by letter dated December 24, 1987, you submitted an application for Amendment to your Facility Operating License No. DPR-18 to'evise Appendix A Technical Specifications with regards to the increase of maximum allowable iodine activity of offsite radiation doses during steam generator tube rupture.

It is our understanding that the methodology of WCAP-11668, which is required to support the bases for this amendment

request, is to be further devel oped.

This would more preci sely ca 1 cul ate the doses during a steam generator tube uncovery.

Also, based on currently docketed submittals and recently issued amendments affecting related pages of the Ginna Technical Specification, it appears the proposed amendment requires updating.

Therefore your proposed change is considered to be temporarily withdrawn.

The NRC licensing staff discussed this application and the need for more information during a telephone conference on May ll, 1989.

If this information is not correct, please notify the NRC of your intended actions within 10 days of receipt of this letter, for which we would otherwise consider this amendment request withdrawn.
