p S 1989 Dr. Robert C. Mecredy, General Manager Nuclear Production Rochester Gas 5 Electric Corporation 89 East Avenue Rochester, New York 14649
Dear Dr. Mecredy:
SUBJECT:
INTERIM APPROVAL OF INSERVICE TESTING PROGRAM FOR PUMPS AND VALVES DURING THE PRE-1990 TRANSITION YEAR - GINNA (TAC 49135)
Based on the review of the information submitted in your letters dated October 13, 1987, December 20, 1988 and March 23, 1989, we conclude that your responses to the staff's questions are adequate and the proposed program changes are acceptable for implementation during the pre-1990 transition year for the current IST program interval. It is our under-standing that the licensee will complete the program upgrade including review of test procedure adequacy prior to the end of the 1989 refueling outage.
The program upgrade is to be submitted as part of the next ten-year inter val.
As you are aware, Generic Letter N0.89-04 outlines guidance concerning Inservice Testing Programs.
Your new Inservice Testing Program, as well as any Program Update and Revisions, should be within the guidelines of that Generic Letter.
