Site: SALEM Emergency Class: Not Applicable The following endangered species report was received from Salem Unit 1:

"At approximately 0952 on 5/12/2017. 2 deceased Sturgeons (1 Atlantic and 1 Shortnose) were removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. Both Sturgeons were deceased upon retrieval. A report was made by Environmental Licensing to the National Marine Fisheries at 1008 and the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at 1012, concerning the Atlantic sturgeons.

"At approximately 1115 on 5/12/2017, A deceased Atlantic Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The Sturgeon was deceased upon retrieval. A report was made by Environmental Licensing to the National Marine Fisheries at 1230 and the NJDEP Division of Fish &

Wildlife at 1251, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon.

"At approximately 1230 on 5/12/2017, A deceased Shortnose Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The Sturgeon was deceased upon retrieval. A report was made by Environmental Licensing to the National Marine Fisheries at 1302 and the NJDEP Division of Fish &

Wildlife at 1301, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon.

"Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this event warrants a 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.a.2.a."

The licensee notified the NRC Resident Inspector.

Notified the R1DO(Jackson) and Endangered Species Group via email.
