UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION DOCKET NO. 50-220 HIAGARA MOHAWK POWER CORPORATION NOTICE OF AVAILABILITYOF APPLICANT'S ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Atomic Energy Contmission's regulations in Appendix D to 10 CFR Part 50, notice is hereby given that a report entitled "Environmental Report-Operating License Stage", dated June 1972, for the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 1, submitted by the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NMP), is being placed in the Commission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C.'-"'~20545, and in the Oswego City Library, 120 East Second Street, Oswego, New York 13126. The report also is being sent to the New York State Office of Planning Services, 488 Broadway, Albany, New York 12207, and the Central New York Regional

'Planning and Development Board, 321 East Water Street, Syracuse, New York 13202.

The report discusses environmental considerations related to 4

t'ne Nine Mile Point Unit 1 that is located in the Town of Scriba, Oswego County, New York. The report was filed with the Commission as part of is application for conversion of Provisional Operating License No. DPR-17 to a full-term operating license. The piovisional license was issued to NMP by the Commission on August 22, 1969, and currently authorizes

operation of the facility at full power (1850 Aft). A copy of the application (notarized June 27, 1972) is available for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room and at'he Oswego City Librax'y.

After the report has been analyzed by the Commission's Directox of Regulation or his designee, a draft environmental statement related to the proposed action will be prepared by the'ommission. Upon prep-aration of the draft environmental statement, the Commission will, among other things, cause to be published in the FEDERAL REGISTER a summary notice of availability of the draft statement. The summax'y notice will reques't comments from Federal agencies, State and local officials, and interested persons on the proposed action and on the draft statement.

The summary notice also will contain a statement to the effect that the comments of Federal agencies, and State and local officials will be available for public inspection when received.
