SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 1-DAM SAFETY AND OPERATION INSPECTION REPORT (TAG NO. MD8547)
Dear Mr. Kapopoulos:
Enclosed is a copy of the Dam Safety Inspection Report for the Auxiliary Reservoir Dam prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The enclosure contains the results of an inspection on April16, 2013, of the auxiliary reservoir dam at Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1. The inspection included the main section of the auxiliary earth dam, the concrete spillway, spillway outlet channel, the right section of the earth embankment, and the topographic features around the auxiliary dam and appurtenant structures. The separation dike was also inspected.
During this inspection, no conditions were observed that would adversely affect the safety of the dam or the nuclear facility. The maintenance of the auxiliary reservoir dam appeared to be satisfactory. At FERC's request, the enclosure is not being made publicly available since it contains critical energy infrastructure information.
