MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (MCGUIRE) - DAM SAFETY AND OPERATION INSPECTION REPORT (TAC NO. MD8547)
Dear Mr. Hamilton:
Enclosed is a copy of the Dam Safety and Operation Inspection Report prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The enclosure contains the results of an inspection on April 20, 2009, of the Standby Nuclear Service Water Pond (SNSWP) dam and appurtenant structures at McGuire, owned by Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC. Based on observations made during this field inspection and review of data submitted by the licensee, the report found that the SNSWP and appurtenant structures appeared to be in satisfactory condition and were adequately maintained. No conditions were found that should adversely affect the immediate safety and permanence of the structures or the operational reliability of the reservoir nor present a threat to the safety of the public.
At FERC's request, the enclosure is not being made publicly available since it contains critical energy infrastructure information.
