Dear Mr. Christian:
Enclosed is a copy of the Dam Safety and Operation Inspection Report prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (!'JRC). The inspection was performed on June 12,2008, at Virginia Electric and Power Company's (the licensee's) North Anna Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (North Anna 1 and 2) service water reservoir (SWR) dam. The purpose of the SWR dam is to provide an adequate source of cooling waterfor an emergency shutdown of the North Anna 1 and 2 reactors. The inspection included the main earth dam, the emergency diversion dike, pump house, valve house, and the immediate topographic features around the SWR.
The subject inspection report enclosure was placed in the NRC Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) on August 22, 2008, as a non-publicly available document (ADAMS Accession No. ML082350167) since the enclosure contains critical energy infrastructure information. Please provide your corrective actions based on the inspection findings and recommendations.
