CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 - DAM SAFETY INSPECTION REPORT FOR THE STANDBY NUCLEAR SERVICE WATER POND (SNSWP) DAM (TAC NO. MD8547)
Dear Mr. Morris:
Enclosed is a copy of the Dam Safety Inspection Report for the SNSWP dam at the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 (Catawba 1 and 2), prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The enclosure contains the results of an inspection dated April 5, 2011, on the SNSWP Dam at Catawba 1 and 2. The inspection included the earth dam, outlet structure, instrument pier, and topographic features around the SNSWP. During this inspection, no conditions were found that should adversely affect the immediate safety, permanence, and operational reliability of the reservoir or present a threat to the safety of the public or the nuclear facility. The SNSWP dam and appurtenant structures were in satisfactory condition and adequately maintained.
At FERC's request, the enclosure is not being made publicly available since it contains critical energy infrastructure information.
The enclosure transmitted herewith contains Security-Related information. When separated from the enclosure, this document is decontrolled.
