DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY - APPROVAL OF EXTENSION REQUESTS TO RESPOND TO NRC REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DATED NOVEMBER 2, 2010 AND JULY 11, 2011 (TAC NO. ME1595)

Dear Dr. OConnor:

By letter dated October 12, 2011, (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML112930035) Dow Chemical Company requested a 30-day extension to provide responses to our request for additional information (RAI). Specifically, the request applied to six RAIs which required outside technical assistance. We have reviewed and agree with your request because these RAIs are complex and the detailed analyses performed must be translated into the RAI responses. Please provide your responses as approved within 30 days of the date of this letter.

In a separate letter, dated October 12, 2011, (ADAMS Accession No. ML11287A035) Dow Chemical Company requested a 60-day extension to provide a response to (RAI 2a) of our RAI letter dated July 11, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML111730586). This request will allow Dow Chemical Company the opportunity to complete development of a negation action plan with respect to this financial qualification RAI. We have reviewed and agree with your request because developing the RAI response requires decisions within multiple levels of management and must be approved by the Board of Directors. Please provide your responses as approved within 60 days of the date of this letter.

In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Section 50.30(b), you must execute your response in a signed original document under oath or affirmation. Your response must be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.4, Written Communications.

Information included in your response that is considered security sensitive, or proprietary, that you seek to have withheld from the public, must be marked in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding.
