DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY - RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DATED AUGUST 10, 2011 AND AUGUST 12, 2011 (TAC NO.
ME1595)
Dear Dr. OConnor:
By letter dated August 12, 2011, (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML11228A116) Dow Chemical Company requested an extension to October 12, 2011, to provide responses to our request for additional information (RAI) (NRC letter dated November 2, 2010, ADAMS Accession No. ML102700307). Specifically, the request applied to five RAIs which will require the results of analyses being performed. We have reviewed and agree with your request for the following reasons: 1) the RAIs are complex and require the detailed analyses currently being performed; and 2) Dow Chemical has demonstrated renewed efforts to complete the RAI responses and maintained good communication with the license renewal project manager regarding the status of your RAI response.
In a separate letter, dated August 10, 2011, (ADAMS Accession No. ML11228A117) Dow Chemical Company requested an extension to October 10, 2011, to provide a response to (RAI 2a) our RAI letter dated July 11, 2011 (ADAMS Accession No. ML111730586). This request will allow Dow Chemical Company an opportunity to develop a new path forward with respect to this financial qualification RAI. We have reviewed and agree with your request because developing the response requires decisions within multiple levels of management.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Section 50.30(b), you must execute your response in a signed original document under oath or affirmation. Your response must be submitted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.4, Written Communications.
Information included in your response that is considered security sensitive, or proprietary, that you seek to have withheld from the public, must be marked in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding.
