OF PUBLIC MEETING HELD ON MAY 6, 2010, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND ARIZONA PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY, CONCERNING THE METAL FATIGUE REVIEW PERTAINING TO THE PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (ME0254, ME0255, AND ME0256)

On May 6, 2010, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff), and representatives of Arizona Public Service Company (APS),

at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss metal fatigue related topics identified during the NRC staff review of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3, license renewal application. The meeting provided APS representatives the opportunity to present plans to resolve remaining metal fatigue review issues. The meeting was open to the public as stated in the meeting notice dated April 20, 2010. provides a listing of the participants and Enclosures 2 provides the slides used by APS at the meeting. The draft request for additional information (RAI) questions presented in the slides can be found in the conference call summary document available in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System under Accession Number ML101340829.

By letter dated April 28, 2010, APS submitted Amendment No.14 to the license renewal application (LRA) which included a revision to Section 4.3 Metal Fatigue. Many of the staffs concerns were addressed in this submittal as discussed in the slides in Enclosure 2 and in the May conference call summary. By letter dated May 27, 2010, APS submitted Amendment No. 16 to the LRA which provided conforming changes to the remainder of Section 4.3. The

staff may issue RAI questions to address any remaining metal fatigue concerns. Any metal fatigue issues not resolved will be reflected as an Open or Confirmatory Item in the staffs Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items schedule for issuance on July 30, 2010.

Public feedback forms were provided, however no members of the public attended.
