Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Nos. 50-269, 50-270, 50-287 Response to Supplemental Request-.fbr Additional Information Associated with Cyber Security Features of the Oconee Nuclear Station Reactor Protective System and Engineered Safeguards Protective System Digital Upgrade On January 30, 2008, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke) submitted a letter addressing the cyber security features of the Reactor Protective System (RPS) and Engineered Safeguards Protective System (ESPS) design change. The proposed change replaces the current analog based RPS/ESPS with a digital computer based RPS/ESPS. Duke responded to a September 26, 2008, request for additional information (RAI) associated with this LAR by letter dated November 6, 2008. By letter dated March 9, 2009, NRC issued a supplemental RAI. The enclosure contains Duke's responses to this supplemental RAI.

The enclosure contains a description of design features that secure the RPS/ESPS from electronic vulnerabilities. As such, Duke considers the information in the enclosure to be sensitive information and requests that it be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.390.
