OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON APRIL 30, 2008, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND FIRSTENERGY NUCLEAR OPERATING COMPANY CONCERNING THE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE REFURBISHMENT ACTIVITIES AT THE BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) held a telephone conference call on April 30, 2008, to discuss follow-up questions for the refurbishment activities request for additional information concerning the Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application. Enclosure 1 is a list of the conference call participants. Enclosure 2 is a summary of the discussion between FENOC and NRC staff.

SUMMARY

FOR THE TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL FOR BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION April 30, 2008 In this telephone conference call, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the NRC or staff) and representatives from FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) discussed the Request for Additional Information (RAI) for replacement activities of the Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS) Unit 2 steam generators (SG) and associated refurbishment environmental impacts analysis. The NRC staff indicated that the response to the March 13, 2008, RAI ENV 3.0-1 (regarding Refurbishment Activities) had been received. The NRC staff added that the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS) would summarize FENOCs response and position as well as the NRC staffs review of environmental impacts analysis related to the Unit 2 SG replacement. The NRC staff indicated that, although it was not specifically requested in the RAI and, as such, it was not addressed in the RAI response, the applicant needed to indicate if new or significant information had been identified during its review of Category 1 impacts associated with refurbishment. FENOC agreed to supplement the RAI response with the Category 1 information by May 30, 2008.
