REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING FINANCIALQUALIFICATION FOR LICENSE RENEWAL FOR THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY (OSU) RESEARCH REACTOR (TAC NO. MA7724)

Dear Mr. Kauffman:

By letter dated July 26, 2006, OSU supplemented its license renewal application for theResearch Reactor to include financial information pertaining to operation and decommissioning of the reactor. That letter does not satisfy the requirements for financial qualification for license renewal.Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50.33(f)(2) requires an applicant seeking torenew or extend the term of an operating license for a nonpower reactor to provide the financial information that is required in an application for an initial license. According to the regulation, this information includes "estimates for total annual operating costs for each of the first five years of operation of the facility." The enclosed table gives a suitable format for providing the information necessary to satisfy the requirement.Please provide the necessary information within 30 days of the date of this letter. Inaccordance with 10 CFR 50.30(b), your response must be executed in a signed original under oath or affirmation. If you have any questions, please contact William B.
