YAEC Response to NRC Security Order for Decommissioned Plants On May 23, 2002(') the NRC Staff issued an Order modifying the Yankee Nuclear Power Station's (YNPS') current license to require compliance with the interim safeguards and security compensatory measures. Yankee Atomic Electric Company's (YAEC's) response to the Order is contained in the attachment to this letter. This response has been developed utilizing NEI guidance. Also attached is a request to extend the time to request a hearing as allowed by Section IV of the Order.

This cover letter when separated from Attachments 1 and 2, is not Safeguards Information.

Attachments 1 and 2 to this cover letter contains Safeguards Information of a type specified in 10CFR73.21 and should be withheld from public disclosure. In accordance with 10CFR2.790, a copy of this cover letter, less enclosures, may be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
