Proposal submitted in response to the Commission's regulation requiring conversion of the OSTR from high enriched uranium (HEU) fuel to low enriched uranium (LEU)

Gentlemen:

In accordance with the Commission's regulation contained in 10 CFR ORFGON 50.64(c)(2)(ii) and with reference to the attached letter from the U. S. Department of STATE Energy, the Oregon State University Radiation Center has not been notified of any UNIVERSITY change in funding status. Therefore, Federal Government funding for conversion of the OSTR from HEU to LEU cannot be certified and therefore no further action towards conversion will be taken at this time.

In accordance with 10 CFR Part 50.64, "Limitation on the Use of Highly Enriched Uranium in Domestic Non-Power Reactors," you are hereby notified that Federal funding under the Department of Energy University Reactor Fuel Assistance Program for conversion of your reactor to low enrichment uranium fuel will not be available during fiscal year 2001.

You will be notified in the event these circumstances change.
