Inspection 50-322/82-02 This refers to your letters dated March 5 and 11,1982, in response to our letter dated February 2,1982. Thank you for providing the infomation regarding the violation and deviation detailed in the above Inspection Report.
Regarding your letter of March 5,1982, it is our position that the completed Field Disposition Instruction alone does not constitute a sufficient record of the preload force or hydraulic tensioner pressure applied to the jet pump beam bolts. However, we have reviewed the additional written confimation of this work that you have obtained from the contractor and have discussed the beam bolt tensioning with appropriate contractor personnel. Based on this information, we conclude that adequate doucmentation now exists to confim that the proper pre-load force was applied to the bolts. Further, we understand that you have initiated action to ensure that the hydraulic tensioner pressure will be recorded for each beam bolt should retensioning be required in the future.
Regarding the Shoreham Configuration Review Program discussed in your letter dated March 11, 1982, we understand that your review, as a minimum, will include all safety related systems as defined in FSAR Chapter 3.2.
Our understandings of your comitments described herein are based on discussions between Mr. J. Smith of your staff and Messrs. R. Gallo and J. Higgins of this office on April 2 and 7,1982. Your actions in these areas will be examined during a future inspection of your licensed program. Your cooperation with us is appreciated.
