Inspection on November 14-15, 1979 (Report No. 50-322/79-19)

Areas Inspected:

Special, announced inspection of the radiation protection program and radioactive waste system specific to pre-operational inspection activities.

The inspection included a tour of plant facilities and a general discussion with plant management as to the scope and depth of inspections applicable to the radiation protection program and radioactive waste systems during pre-operational, start-up, operational and refueling phases.

Facility Inspections The reactor, turbine, control and radioactive waste buildings were inspected as part of the initial pre-operational inspection program.

The inspection was conducted for purposes of becoming familiar with in-plant facilities and equipment and to assess the status of construction in order to prepare and schedule for future pre-operational inspections pertaining to the radiation protection program and radioactive waste systems.

3.

Radioactive Waste Managenent and Radiation Protection Inspection Prog ram The inspectors met and discussed with licensee representatives the pre-operational testing and operational preparedness phases of the radioactive waste systems and radiation protection program.

The discussion consisted of outlining the basis, scope, frequency and general depth of the inspection program as it applies to pre-operational, start up, operational, and refueling phases.

At the conclusion of the discussion, the inspectors requested that the following docunents be made available for review during future inspections:

listing of health physics procedures

-

all health physics prr cedures plus those administrative types that apply to the health hysics organization

-

radioactive waste system description (liquid, solid, gaseous)
