50-289 OPERATIaiG TEST ADMINISTEREQL July 18, 1990 i
This form is used only to report observations.
These observations do not constitute audit or inspection findings and are not, without further J
verification and review, indicative of non-compliance with-l 10CFR55. 4 5 (b).
These observations do not affect NRC certification or l
approval of the simulation facility other than to provide information
which may be used in future evaluations.
No licensee action is required in response to these, observations.
l During the conduct of the simulator portion of the operating tests, the following items were observed (if no comments, so state):
1.
A booth has been built around the instructors console since the l
last examinations.
There are some minor problems associated with the. booth usage:
(1) the instructors are getting used to working i
in a booth as opposed to being on the floor with the operators, and l
l (2) there are no microphones on the simuvator floor and thus the
instructors cannot hear the operators if the booth doors are j
closed.
2.
The control room in the plant has undergone major modifications l-with respect to the computer consoles and the layout of the desks f
for the operators, supervisors and the STA, including raising of the floor in the desk area for better visibility.
The simulator
l has also-been modified to replicate the upgraded computer consoles
!
and the new desk layout, j
i 3.
New additions in the simulator and the control room with respect i
to the annunciators are a unique reset horn that is different from
!
the alarm horn, and a switch for global silence of the annunciators j
for two-minutes with the shift supervisor's permission.
