Engineering Support Section 2 Inspection Summary Inspection on June 24-25, 1980 (Reports No. 50-254/80-15; 50-265/80-18)

Areas Inspected: Torus support modification QA/QC program, implementing procedures, work activities, and review and evaluation of welding and non-destructive examination (NDE) data. This inspection involved a total of 11 onsite inspection-hours by one NRC inspector.

Results: No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Observation of Work The inspector observed the following work activities:

a.

A Graver welder welding on the butter temper bead, Unit 2, Column 4.

b.

A fit up of a saddle Unit 2, Column 3.

c.

CECO QC inspector inspecting butter temper beads on columns 12, 13, and 14 and an area on column 11 where the wing plate had been ground loose on Unit 2.

CECO QC is required to inspect 20% of the completed butter temper bead welds but are performing a 100% inspection on all temper bead welds.

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
