Functional or Program Areas Inspected 1.

Observation of Work and Work Activities Relative to the Repair of Control Rod Drive (CRD) Housing No. F-2 a.

The inspector viewed the video tape taken during a pressure test when the CRD housing was pressurized with nitrogen from the outside of the housing.

It was noted that there appeared to be three leak paths in the vicinity of the middle of the stub-tube to vessel weld.

b.

The inspector observed the condition of the thermal sleeve after pcrtion of it has been cut.

It was determined that the cut appeared to be satisfactory and the inside of the hous.qg appeared to be unmarked.

c.

The inspector observed the assembly and installation of the rolling machine for the rolling operation of the CRD housing.

It was determined that procedure requirements were met.

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.

Combustion Engineering, Incorporated (CE) written report of the interpretation of the radiographic film of the stub tube to vessel weld.

(The inspector was unable to review the radiographic film during the inspection because the film was with CE at Chattanooga, Tennessee.)

Thermal Sleeve Material Certification with heats No. K2F-25F, e.

No. 8N59761 and No. A27916.

The inspector determined the documents are satisfactory and steps in

the procedures were signed off for the work performed.

No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
