As a part of the inspection conducted during February 25 - March 7, 1980, this report details the inspection of trailers No. 232214, No.
331143
.and No. 331011. all from the same Licensee
- /hipper.
The shipments consisted of large wooden boxes on an open flatbed trailqr.
Results:
Three apparent items of noncomp'liance with DOT/NRC regulations were observed.
It appears that the Department of Transportation and NRC Region III office are the appropriate organizations to take enforcement action DETAILS Persons Contacted Mr. Steve Carpenter, Site Manager, NECO Mr. Brian Thayer, Site Assistant Manager, NECO Mr. Jim Cruickshank, Site RSO, NECO Mrs. Pat Thayer, Secretary, NECO Back round Information As a part of the inspection of incoming shipments of radioactive waste to NECO, Beatty, Nevada, during February 25 through March 7, 1980, this report details the results of an inspection of trailer numbers 232214, 331143, and 331011 on February 29, 1980.
The three trailers were from the same licensee - shipper.

Radiation surveys of the boxes showed a maximum dose rate of 3 mR/hr at the surface and less than 1 mR/hr at 6 feet.
No removable radioactive contamination was identified.
There was no placard on the front box.
This is an item of noncompliance per 49 172.504.
