In the Reference 1 letter (Regulatory Issue Summary 2009-06), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) described the importance of providing advance notice of the intent to pursue license renewal. The Reference 1 letter also requested that the NRC be informed of any changes to the anticipated schedule for submitting the license renewal application.

The Reference 2 letter provided notification that Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) intended to submit the Subsequent License Renewal Application (SLRA) for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN), Units 1, 2, and 3 in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants, by the end of 2023. The purpose of this letter is to inform the NRC of a change in the schedule to submit the SLRA for Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for BFN Units 1, 2, and 3.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission CNL-23-046 Page 2 June 6, 2023 During a May 11, 2023 public meeting, the NRC requested TVA consider delaying the submittal of the BFN SLRA until January 2024. As a result of this request, TVA now intends to submit the SLRA for the Renewed Facility Operating Licenses for BFN, Units 1, 2, and 3 during the week of January 15, 2024.
