NARRATIVI: REPORT 1,ER 50-32 I / I')79-50, Rev. I With the reactor shutdown for maintenance and ref ueling, while running in the shutdown cooling mode and preparing to perf om the 10'V hydrostatic test, the IC Rl!R pump (C11-C002C) w.is f ound to have an excessive leak at the mechanical scal.

When the IC R!iR pint.p was removed f rce service, to permit maintenance personnel to replace the seal, the reactor unit was not in compliance with Technical Specifica tion sect ion 3. 5.B. I.a because the kilR pumps in tlie B loop were already out of service for hanpcr repairs.

The ruptured mechancial seal was replaced and the IC RilR pump ret urn ed to service on July 27, 1979.
