Dear Sir!/ Madam:

Subject:

VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION (VCSNS) UNIT I DOCKET NO. 50-395 OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 SPECIAL REPORT (SPR) 2015-002 South Carolina Electric & Gas Company is submitting this Special Report pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specifications 3.3.3.4 and 6.9.2. This report addresses one or more required meteorological monitoring channels being inoperable for more than seven (7) days.

On October 19, 2015, at 2235 hours0.0259 days
0.621 hours
0.0037 weeks
8.504175e-4 months
, VCSNS's Meteorological Instrumentation was declared inoperable due to a bus outage which de-energized its power supply. Upon restoration it was determined that the 10 meter instruments were not functioning. This failure has been entered into the station's corrective action program. The cause of the Meteorological Instrumentation's inoperability was due to a failed communication board. A replacement board has been ordered.

It is anticipated that the meteorological instrumentation will be restored to an operable status in early November 2015.

Should you have any questions, please call Bruce Thompson at (803) 931-5042.
