No. IV-13-001 Contact: Victor Dricks (817) 200-1128 Lara Uselding (817) 200-1519 January 7, 2013 E-Mail: OPA4.Resource@nrc.gov NRC TO DISCUSS PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF INSPECTION FOR CALLAWAY NUCLEAR PLANT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION NRC staff will present preliminary results of an inspection conducted as part of the Jan. 17, 2013. Callaway, located near Fulton, Mo., is owned and operated by Union Electric Co. An open house will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Fulton City Hall, 18 East Fourth St., in Fulton. NRC Region IV staff, from Arlington, Texas, will be available to discuss the preliminary results and answer questions from the public. systems, structures and components within the scope of license renewal. The team also assessed the processes used to determine what systems, structures and components are required to be monitored for aging effects. Under NRC regulations, the original operating license for a commercial nuclear power plant has a term of 40 years. The license can be renewed for up to an additional 20 years if NRC requirements are met. The current operating license for the Callaway plant expires on Oct. 18, 2024.
