Ladies and Gentlemen:

DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLA WAY PLANT UNIT 1 UNION ELECTRIC CO.

RENEWED FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-30 DRAFT NPDES PERMIT FOR STORMWATER RETENTION POND MODIFICATION

In accordance with Callaway Plant Operating License NPF-30, Appendix B, Section 3.2, Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri) hereby submits the enclosed draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Missouri State Operating Permit (with proposed changes) for the Callaway Plant (MO-0098001), as well as the Application for Nondomestic Permit (Form A) and Attachment A to the NPDES Permit Modification Application. The NPDES Operating Permit modification was submitted to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on December 20, 2021.

The NPDES permit modification was submitted to reflect changes to stormwater retention ponds.

Compliance with the permit will be verified as provided for in the permit.

Based on when the enclosed NPDES permit modification was submitted to the State, it is acknowledged that this letter for reporting the permit reapplication is not being submitted in a timely manner and not in conformance with the intent of Section 3.2 of Appendix B, which specifies that :

The licensee shall provide the NRC a copy of the application for renewal of the NPDES Permit at the same time the application is submitted to the permitting agency.

The delay in providing a copy of the December 20, 2021 permit modification is being addressed in the plant's corrective action program.

This letter does not contain new commitments.
