Request for Additional information- TMI-1 ISFSI Only Physical Security License Amendment Request Date: Monday, May 23, 2022 9:20:00 AM Hi Craig, Please respond to this Request or Additional Information (RAI) as soon as you can. Once, we get TMI-1s response, we hope to complete our review of your license amendment request (LAR).

Im providing the RAI below for the TMI-1 LAR related to 10 CFR 73.67 and Part 37. The RAI is not sensitive but the response of the licensee most likely will be.

RAI:

In the April 29, 2021 license amendment request, TMI-1 has described the existence of special nuclear material at the site that must be protected consistent with 10 CFR 73.67.

a. Describe the TMI-1 location(s) and/or the equipment where the special nuclear material is stored.
b. If the special nuclear material is located in numerous areas of TMI-1, provide a proposed license condition that describes the protection of 10 CFR 73.67 material for NRCs consideration.

Regulatory

Reference:

Consistent with 10 CFR 73.67(a)(1), each licensee who possesses, uses or transports special nuclear material of moderate or low strategic significance shall establish and maintain a physical protection system Consistent with 10 CFR 73.67(b)(2), a licensee who has quantities of special nuclear material equivalent to special nuclear material of moderate strategic significance distributed over several buildings may, for each building which contains a quantity of special nuclear material less than or equal to a level of special nuclear material of low strategic significance, protect the material in that building under the lower classification physical security requirements.
