OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY - REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE REVISED OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY TRIGA REACTOR REQUALIFICATION PLAN (EPID NO. L-2021-NFO-0012)

Dear Dr. Reese:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff completed its review of the Oregon State University TRIGA Reactor Requalification Plan (hereinafter plan), submitted by letter dated August 24, 2021 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Package Accession No. ML21236A342).

The NRC staff review finds that the plan is in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 55.59, Requalification, and is consistent with the guidance contained in industry standard American National Standards Institute/American Nuclear Society15.4-2016, Selection and Training of Personnel for Research Reactors.

During its review, the NRC staff noticed that the plan does not include the requirements associated with 10 CFR 55.59(c)(6), Alternative training programs. If Oregon State University finds the need to implement an alternative training program in the future, the licensee will have to submit a revised plan to the NRC for approval.
