Jay Sawyer dated Octotar 12,1997, expressing concerns about the Ccmmission's consideration y of the Louisiana Energy Services'(LES) license applicatior for coastmction of a

[ uranium enrichment facility in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana.

The matter of Louisiana Energy Services' application to construct and operate a uranium enrichment plant in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana continues to be the subiect of an ongoing formal adiudication before tno Agency. Therefore, I trust that you will understand why the Comrnission cannot respond, at this time, to the substance of your constituents concerns without raising questions of prejudgment.

A copy of your letter and this recponse will be placed in the LES hearing docket and served on the parties to the proceeding.
