Subject:

LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Revision to Proposed Technical Specification Amendments - CRD System Scram Accumulator Alarm NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374 Reference (a): Letter from H. L. Massin to H. R. Denton dated August 2, 1985.

Dear Mr.-Denton:

In reference (a), commonwealth Edison proposed amendments to Appendix A, the Technical Specifications, for Facility Operating License NPF-11 and NPF-18 for LaSalle Units 1 and 2, respectively. The proposed amendments involved:

(1) Removal of the upper limit on Control Rod Drive (CRD) accumulator pressure setpoint.

(2) Addition of provisions to allow continued operation with CRD accumulator level or pressure monitors inoperable.

In response to concerns raised by members of your staff, we are modifying our. proposed amendments to delete item 2 above. The attachment to this letter contains the remaining proposed amendment regarding the CRD accumula-tor pressure setpoint and supercedes the proposed amendment contained in Attachment B to the reference.

Since this revised submittal deletes a portion of our earlier request and therefore represents a more conservative action, our previous conclusion the No Significant Hazards Consideration exists remains applicable.
