• Probability If the license is withdrawn the consequences are:

Electricity would have to be obtained elsewhere, possibly from fossil fuels Electricity would be more expensive Reliability of electrical power may suffer NextEra would suffer financially

If the license is continued, the consequences could be:

Hundreds of people dying All the problems of Fukushima So, the consequences are lopsided. The probabilities are lopsided the opposite way: 100% vs.

an estimated 0.001%.

This means that a decision to continue the license would be tantamount to valuing the lives of 100's of people only about a thousand times more than cheaper power. A bad deal!

An additional comment: Dr. Mtingwa recognized that the 20 year extension was of particular surprise and concern to local residents.

I am further concerned that although direct safety issues were addressed, the additional impact of waste disposal problems may not have been adequately addressed in the 20 year extension.
