Dear Ms. Mattison,
I live within a 10-mile radius from the Seabrook Plant and request that the decision to extend their operating license to 2050 be reversed. I understand that the seabrook plant owner, NextEra has admitted that the concrete surrounding the reactor is compromised due to an alkali silica reaction (ASR) that is slowly degrading the structural integrity of the containment vessel. Transparency in mitigation efforts need to be in place to address this isolated issue that is facing only this nuclear reactor out of the 98 reactors in the US. With no experience on how to handle this issue, it is imperative that the NRC require the owners to collaborate with experts around the world to demonstrate their due diligence prior to a license extension.
