Subject:

[External_Sender] Seabrook Nuclear Station Date: Friday, September 27, 2019 4:52:00 PM I have been ill all this week but would like to submit my reasons for requesting that Seabrook Station upgrade its testing and safety reporting.

Over the years, I have read quite a bit about the disintegration of the concrete occurring at Seabrook. I live in Georgetown, Massachusetts, only 15 miles south of the plant. I feel personally threatened and am also very alarmed by the health consequences for the many people living even closer.

As a retired former manager of a family practice in Rowley (and a person with a degree in economics), I can attest that our medical system is already overburdened, and will become worse as Baby Boomers age. To add to this situation the health problems created by a dangerously-aging nuclear plant is completely irresponsible. Death rates in America have already begun to rise. We must not make this worse.

I am also concerned about our local environment, which is precious to us for economic reasons (and also because our lives and the lives of those who visit the area are enriched by its beauty.)

It is tragic that America needs to create more jobs, yet we have spent billions on forms of energy that create very few jobs. There are thousands of roofs in this area - homes, stores, schools, factories - that could produce solar power. Each year the technology of wind and solar improves. Each year the costs fall. But the costs of dealing with Seabrook's problems are going to continue rising.

Let's create some jobs right now and have Seabrook do some work to deal with the ASR problems with their concrete. And then report back to us ASAP!

Thank you very much for your consideration, Sincerely, Patti Batchelder 55 Searle St.
