Dear Ms. Wideman:

I would like to personally invite you and other members of your organization to attend a meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Constellation Energy (R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant) in which the NRC staff will discuss with Constellation Energy our annual assessment of the safety performance of the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.

The meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the Ontario Golf Club, 2101 Country Club Lane, Ontario, NY. At the meeting we will briefly discuss our Reactor Oversight Process, and then discuss with Constellation Energy our assessment of their safety performance of R.E. Ginna and their response to our assessment. The meeting is open to the public for observation. Following the presentation, the NRC staff will be available to answer questions from you and other members of the public regarding the safety performance of R.E. Ginna and the role of the NRC in ensuring safe plant operations.

The NRC recently completed its annual assessment of the safety performance of the R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process. Our assessment used the most recent performance indicator data and inspection findings from January 1, 2004, through December 31, 2004. We described our assessment results in a letter to Constellation Energy on March 2, 2005. A copy of that letter and the meeting notice with the meeting agenda are enclosed. The notice includes references to the NRC's annual assessment letter and the meeting slides in ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web Site at:
