Dear Dr. Day:

On July 17-20, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted an inspectionat your Geological Survey TRIGA Reactor facility. The enclosed report documents theinspection results, which were discussed on July 20, 2006, with Dr. Randall Updike, Regional Geologist, and members of your staff.The inspection examined activities conducted under your license as they relate to safety andcompliance with the NRC's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. Theinspector reviewed selected procedures and records, observed activities, and interviewed personnel. Based on the results of this inspection, no findings of significance were identified. In accordance with Section 2.390 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, "PublicInspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding," a copy of this letter, its enclosure, and your response (if any) will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC PublicDocument Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRC's AgencywideDocument Access and Management System (ADAMS).
