CORRECTION TO THE SAFETY EVALUATION ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENTS REGARDING TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGES TO SUPPORT CONTROL ROD TESTING IN COLD SHUTDOWN WITH REACTOR COOLANT PUMPS NOT IN OPERATION FOR VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT UNITS 3 AND 4 (LAR 17-034) (EPID L-2017-LLA-0102)
Dear Mr. Whitley:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment Nos. 117 and 116 to Combined License (COL) Nos. NPF-91 and NPF-92, for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Units 3 and 4, respectively, on March 28, 2018. The safety evaluation was issued with an inconsistency that was inadvertently introduced. Specifically, the safety evaluation included a statement that was inconsistent with the approved Technical Specification 3.1.10, Rod Withdrawal Test Exception - MODE 5. Correction of the error does not change any of the conclusions made by the NRC staff in the safety evaluation.
The corrected safety evaluation may be found in NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML18060A417. We regret any inconvenience that this has caused.
