r REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION GENERIC LETTER 96-06. " ASSURANCE OF EQUIPMENT OPERABILITY AND 1

CONTAINMENT INTEGRITY."

In a letter dated September 11,1998, PECO Energy Company (the licensee) provided additional information in response to a request for additional information concerning GL 96-06 that was issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff on May 28,1998. The licensee indicated that the temperature in the reactor building closed loop cooling water (RBCCW) system will not exceed 124*F during a loss-of-coolant-accident (LOCA) concurrent with loss of offsite power (LOOP), and therefore boiling will not occur in the RBCCW system, in order to complete our review of the waterhammer and two phase flow issues for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, Units 2 and 3, the NRC staff requires additionalinformation as follows.

. Provide a copy of the calculations that were completed by the licensee to reach its conclusions, including sufficient explanation of the methodology and assumptions that were used. This information is needed to allow the NRC staff to perform independent review. Bounding calculations that are conservative will suffice.

. Provide a copy of the vendor's data sheet for the drywell coolers.
