On June 16, 1980, I wrote to advise you that The Detroit Edison Company (" Applicant") was considering whether it would be appropriate to withdraw its Applica-tion for Licenses in this proceeding and request that the proceeding be terminated. Applicant has now made a final decision to ask that the proceeding be terminated. I am enclosing a formal request for withdrawal of application, which.is subject to the approval of the Atomic Safety and

-Licensing Board under 10 C.F.R. S 2.107.

Jordan July 9, 1980 Page 2 It is respectfully requested that the Licensing Board issue an order granting Applicant's request for withdrawal and terminating the proceeding without preju-dice. Pending action by the Licensing Board, it is further requested that the time for Applicant to respond to the motion served on June 2, 1980, by Citizens for Employment and Energy be extended. If the Licensing Board acts favorably upon the request for withdrawal, it is our position that the motion will be moot so far as Applicant is concerned.
