ALARM PROCEDURE ERRORS Alarm Procedure 2.3 B-3 indicates that a Service Waterpump motor overload/ground alarm on the B and DSW pump motors results in an automatic pump trip. Thatalarm results from actuation of the 50G ground relay, or either of the phase overcurrent relas' time-overcurrent contacts (designated as the 51 contacts).
An automatic pump trip results from any of those actuations and a locked-rotor condition (50-2 contacts), or a short circuit condition (50;1 contacts), referencing B&R Drwg 3022. This design is In accordance with the relay manufacturers recommendations (GE, VM 1750), and this logic arrangement Is applicable to all of the 4kV.motors at CNS. An overload/ground alarm by itself does not result in an automatic pump trip, and the alarm procedure is In error.Immediate Action
Description:
On discoveryof thiscondition, the remaindieir of the 4kV motoroveiload/ground alarm procedures were reviewed, and it was found that the same condition existed with respect to the Condensate pump motors, the Condensate Booster pump motors, and the CID Screen Wash pump motors (reference Alarm Procedure 2.3 A-3). TSG Initiated revisions to 2.3 A-3 and 2.3 B-3vas appropriate.
In addition, revisions to the alarm procedures for the other 4kV motors (RHR, CS, SWBP, cW,,and A/C SW) which described an automatic action for this alarm as a possible pump trip; were also Initiated to provide a cleareIr description of the automatic actions expected, that is, a pump trip on alarm only in conjunction with a locked-rotor condition on the motor.Suerested Action
Description:
CBOAT. The extent of the condition was determined, and corrective actions (procedure revisions) are In progress;
