November 21, 2013 In the Matter of PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY (Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Units 1 and 2)

Docket Nos. 50

-275-LR and 50-323-LR RE: Projected Schedule for Completion of the Safety and Environmental Evaluations

Dear Administrative Judges:

Pursuant to the Board's Revised Scheduling Order of November 19, 201 2, this letter informs the Board of the NRC Staff's current milestone schedule for the Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 license renewal safety evaluation and environmental review.

In light of PG&E's status report filed with the Board on November 12, 2013 , the Staff expects to issue the DSEIS in September of 2014. Subsequent to issuing the DSEIS

, the Staff expects to finalize its safety and environmental reviews, to include issuance of the supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) and any necessary supplements to the safety evaluation report by the end of April 201 5. This estimate is based on PG&E's inten t to issue a written final report on the seismic studies in June 2014 , as stated in PG&E's Updated Best Estimate Schedule for Seismic Studies attached to PG&E's November 12 , 2013 Status Report issued to the Board.
