Projected Schedule for Completion of the Safety and Environmental Evaluations

Dear Administrative Judges:

Pursuant to the Boards Order of August 5, 2010 (Scheduling Initial Scheduling Conference), this letter informs the Board of the NRC Staffs current milestone schedule for the Diablo Canyon Units 1 and 2 license renewal safety evaluation and environmental review. In light of PG&Es status report filed with the Board on September 11, 2012, the Staff expects to issue the DSEIS in January of 2015. Subsequent to issuing the DSEIS, the Staff expects to finalize its safety and environmental reviews, to include issuance of the supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) and any necessary supplements to the safety evaluation report by the end of June 2015. This estimate is based on the applicant issuing its final report on the seismic studies by September 2014, as stated in PG&Es Updated Best Estimate Schedule for Seismic Studies attached to PG&Es September 11, 2012 update to the Board.
