The following information was obtained from the licensee:

"At approximately 0830 EST on February 12th, 2014, a live sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 2 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The sturgeon was confirmed by a site biological expert to be an Atlantic sturgeon which is an endangered species. Atlantic sturgeons are federally listed as 'endangered' speci es under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hr. report to the NRC under RAL 11 .8.2.a.

"At approximately 0855 the sturgeon was released back into the Delaware River following identification.

"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 0910 and the NJDEP Division of Fish &

Wildlife at 0908, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon by Environmental Licensing."

The licensee has notified the NRC Resident Inspector and will be notifying Lower Alloways Township.

Notified R1DO (Powell) and Endangered Species group via email.
