Section I. Standing Valley Watch, Inc. submits _an af fidavit f rom a member of good standing illustrating that a). they live within 50 miles of the proposed site of the Marble Hill ~ Nuclear Generatinghealth, Station Units, 1 and 2; b) that their environmental, recreational, and property interests are affected by the outcome of the Operating Licensing pro'ceedings for these facilities, and; c) that they authorizF Valley Watch, Inc. to represent their interests in the proceedings., ,

Valley Watch, Inc also submits affidavits from members of goodstanding from communities along the Ohio River who, alth ough living f urther than 50 miles f rom the proposed site, feel that

their same interests are affected. 'The proximity of the proposed facility to the Ohio River, and the fact that these citizens receive their drinking water from this river creates a sit' ation

where damage can be done f rom a greater distance. In 1977 a series of chemical spills in the upper reaches of the Ohio River drain' age system, much f urther f rom the lower Ohio River region than the Marble Hill proposed cite, caused the closing of -

munincipal water supply facilities in the region. Thus, Valley Watch submits that Valley Watch, Inc. has standing via these

members as well.
