Dear Mr. Grier:

My letter PLA-201, dated December 1, 1977 provided an interim report of a deficiency reportable under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). The letter further stated that PPGL anticipated submitting a final definitive'eport by June 5, 1978.

However, we now conclude, based upon the manufacturer's (G.E.) progress in completing certain items of rework, that June 5, 1978 is no longer a realistic date for submittal of the definitive report. This conclusion is derived from the fact that certain panel inserts which require remanufacturing; and were instrumental in the discovery of the deficiency, will not be completed before July, 1978. It i.s PPGL's intention to obtain assurance that the specifics of those deficiencies and the cause for their occurrence have been completely corrected before the report is submitted. Therefore, we are now projecting submittal of the definitive report by September 5, 1978.

You will be advised should developments or other circumstances affect this latest commitment. We regret the delay but opt in favor of a more complete report.
