The purpose of this letter is to request a meeting with appropriate NRC staff. The objective ofthe meeting is to provide a technical overview of the recently announced molybdenum 99 projectusing General Atomics proprietary selective gaseous extraction technology and the University ofMissouri Research Reactor (MURR). We envision this meeting requiring several hours topresent information and respond to questions. Representatives from MURR as well as GeneralAtomics and Nordion Medical will participate in presenting the technical overview.While this project is currently in the conceptual design stage, we wish to begin dialogue withNRC staff to help assure the efficiency of the regulatory licensing process. We anticipate thisproject will require a license amendment to our Reactor License (Class 104c Amended FacilityLicense No. R-103, Docket No. 50-186).Your consideration of this request and a response at your earliest convenience would beappreciated.Sincerely,Ralph A.
