Michigan State University Triga Rentor License R-114 Annual Report (Docket 50-294)

Dear Sir:

Pursiant to 10CFR50-59 the f4 Ilowing report is submitted:

1. During the operating period of January 1, to December 31, 1978 the following experiments were performed:
a. 53 central thimble irradiations
b. 724 rotary specimen rack Irradiations
c. total operation of 1.12 megawatt-days
2. Records indicate Ar41 releases totalling 1422.7 pCi or en average release rate of 1.2 X 10 10 pCi/ml. In addi tion, appi o. ,cely 500 pCI of Br 82 were released.

3 Tank bottom deflection has been monitored regularly with no apparent change.

4. There were seven unscheduled scrams during the reporting period:

8. A pneumatic transfer system was constructed which will allow the transfer of samples from the core to the spectroscopy room 9 An NSF grant was received for the purpose of obtaining computer based gamma spectroscopy equipment.
