By letter dated December 23, 2014, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP), submitted an application for a Design Certification of the APR1400 Standard Design. | |||
Based on our review of the application, the NRC staff is providing the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) its Safety Evaluation (SE), with Open Items for Chapter 14, Verification Programs (ML17023A248). Unless otherwise stated in the SE, the NRC staffs review was based on Revision 0 of the application. The SE is being provided to support a meeting of the subcommittee of the ACRS scheduled for April 5, 2017. The ACRS Full Committee meeting will be held after the subcommittee meeting. This SE with open Items (OI) only contains section 14.2 because section 14.3 is still undergoing Inspections, Tests, Analyses and Acceptance criteria (ITAAC) review. | |||
The NRC staff concludes that the SE does not contain any information exempt from public disclosure. However, the NRC staff will withhold the SE from public disclosure for ten business days to allow KHNP the opportunity to verify the NRC staffs conclusion that the SE contains no such exempt information. Therefore, the NRC staff requests that the ACRS withhold the SE from public disclosure until it has been released publicly in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). | |||
The NRC staff will inform the ACRS immediately if KEPCO and KHNP requests that any of the information in the SE be withheld from public disclosure. | |||
