FW: Instrument air dryer info.

Dave- Pages 16 through 20 of the Compressed Air system description(below) explain normal and loss of power effects to the Air Dryers.

It also explains that, with a loss of power to the dryers, the K-26 alarm will be annunciated. Looking at the ARM, it agrees with the system description-- the alarm is caused by: 1) Instrument air pressure less than 93 PSIG 2) 11/12 Dryer Malfunction.

Under the automatic actions, the description of what happens at 93 PSIG is also what happens on a loss of power to the dryer. See Response in the alarm manual for K-26, page 50. Notice that the action for loss of power or lower air pressure is the same--when the cause has been corrected, reset the IA dryer.

Again, the point contested is, given only the air pressure of 96 PSIG, no mention of an alarm or a white light being brightly lit, you cannot definitively say that an air dryer has lost power (or ANY malfunction exists). If you need different information, or want this in a different format, please call me at Nick's number, 410 495-4586. Thanks Mike Wasem CCNPP Supervisor-ITU (410) 495-3638
